Chiefs Sign Thomas Jones

Chiefs signed RB Thomas Jones to a two-year, $5 million contract. Jones’ contract is reasonable, with $3 million this year, $2 million next year and another $500,000 incentives. He’s s expected to receive 8-12 touches per game behind unquestioned starter Jamaal Charles, and will likely be used in a short-yardage role similar to the LenDale White-Chris Johnson situation in 2008.

Charlie Weis to become the Chiefs Offensive Coordinator

Ex-Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis has agreed to become the Chiefs new offensive coordinator, according to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen. He’ll reportedly be named Kansas City’s new playcaller “within the next 24-48 hours.” The fit is logical because Weis’ offense is virtually the exact same as coach Todd Haley’s, right down to the no-huddle heavy aspects.
