Seahawks MLB Lofa Tatupu is undergoing surgery on his torn pectorals muscle Thursday and will miss the rest of the season. The Seahawks hoped that Tatupu could rehab the muscle in time to play late in the season, but Dr. James Andrews advised the surgery. David Hawthorne will continue to start at MLB while Tatupu is out.

Elsewhere around the NFL:

Kansas City: Larry Johnson and the Chiefs are working on a settlement that would decide Johnson’s future in Kansas City Chiefs. Asked if the agreement would lead to a separation from the team, agent Peter Schaffer replied: “Not necessarily.” Even if a settlement cannot be reached, it appears that Johnson has played his last snap as a Chief.

New England: The Patriots worked out free agent kickers Mike Nugent and Connor Barth on Thursday. Stephen Gostkowski isn’t known to be injured, so the Pats were likely just taking a look for scouting purposes.

Green Bay: The Packers have yet to decide if Ahman Green will be active for Sunday’s game against the Vikings. “He looks good,” running backs coach Edgar Bennett said. “We’re bringing him along. Coach will make the final decision as far as who’s going to dress, but he looks good.” When Green eventually plays for the Green Bay Packers, he will be playing exclusively on third downs.

Baltimore: Ravens QB Joe Flacco (ankle) was limited in Thursday’s practice. It doesn’t appear that anyone on the Ravens organization are concerned with Flacco missing any playing time.

Green Bay: Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (foot) was limited again in Thursday’s practice. “There’s certain things that bother it,and we’re just being smart through Wednesday and Thursday,” said coach Mike McCarthy. “It’s very similar to where he was last week.” Rodgers should be ready for this weekends showdown against his former mentor.

Seattle: Seahawks MLB Lofa Tatupu is undergoing surgery on his torn pectorals muscle Thursday and will miss the rest of the season. The Seattle Seahawks hoped that Tatupu could rehab the muscle in time to play late in the season, but Dr. James Andrews advised the surgery. David Hawthorne will continue to start at MLB while Tatupu is out.

Elsewhere around the NFL:

The Chiefs have suspended RB Larry Johnson two weeks for conduct detrimental to the team. Two games will cost the RB $660K and the Chiefs are expected to eventually release the disgruntled Johnson. The Jamaal Charles era in Kansas City Chiefs has now begun.

New York: New York Giants RB Ahmad Bradshaw missed practice Wednesday to visit renowned orthopedic specialist Dr. Robert Anderson about his foot/ankle injury. If Bradshaw is cleared to practice Thursday it would be a positive sign for his fantasy value going forward.

Gonzalez did participate in the pre-practice walkthrough, but he is not expected to play until week 9.

Oakland: Raiders RB Darren McFadden (knee) will miss his fourth straight game Sunday against the Chargers. Beat writer Jerry McDonald also considers McFadden “no slam dunk” to be ready after Oakland’s Week 9 bye. McFadden has not been talking to the media and nobody can even remember him being at the teams practice facility.

Buffalo: Bills QB Trent Edwards (concussion) has resumed practicing on a limited basis, despite already being ruled out for Week 8. Edwards has been medically cleared, but is at risk of losing his job outright to Ryan Fitzpatrick. It doesn’t matter who the starter in Buffalo Bills is as both players should not be on a fantasy roster.

Green Bay: Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (foot) was limited in Packers practice on Wednesday. Rodgers was on last weeks injury report, but he is in no danger of missing action this Sunday against the Vikings.

Brett Favre was listed as questionable for the New York Jets today on the injury report in regarding the game against the Arizona Cardinals. Well Farve only had 6 touchdown passes for the Jets in a 56-35 blowout win over the Cardinals. Yes that is correct 56-35, it looks like a basketball score, but no it was a football game. Not a high scoring Big 12 college football game, it was an NFL game. Can you image if Farve would have been 100% for this game? He might have led the Jets to almost 100 points and Farve could have had close to 10 touchdowns.

Do you think the Green Bay front office and head coach Mike McCarthy monitor the failures and successes of Brett Farve with the Jets? Sure they do, and when they see this score and read about the game I’m sure a couple of what ifs will be going through their mind. Especially now that Aaron Rodgers may have a separated shoulder. Farve was 24-for-34 for 289 yards six touchdowns and one interception. This guy is just sick. Fantasy owners that had Farve as their starting quarterback have to be doing back flips. I’m sure the wild and crazy Jets fans are.

There hasn’t been this much excitement over the Jets since Joe Namath. Speaking of Joe Namath, all Farve did was tied Namath’s franchise record six touchdown passes. Even if the Cardinals cornerbacks are bad, what Farve did was impressive at any level, any age let alone in the NFL and at 38 years young! Do you think that the Jets front office and head coach Eric Mangini aren’t patting themselves on the back and giving each other a high five? Farve broke his own personal record for touchdown passes. Everything was set up for a special day when the Jets came out in their New York Titans throwback uniforms of gold and blue.

No one wanted to see Farve leave the Green Bay Packers except maybe the Minnesota Vikings. Even now it is hard to see Farve in the Jets uniform. It might not take too long to get used to seeing Farve in Jet green if he keeps on having games like he had today. No one wants to see a first time ballot Hall of Famer ruin his legacy. A couple of the NFL greats left the team that they built their legacy up with for a chance to start for another team. It rarely works out, and most of them realize that they should have just retired with their longstanding team. Sometimes egos get in the way. Some of those players damage their legacy. This is not the case for Farve. He just wanted to play football again, the sport he loves.

Farve thought that he could still play at a high level in the NFL. The Packers didn’t believe that he could anymore. Even though the season is only into it’s fourth game, Farve is proving to himself, the Jets and the Packers, and the rest of the NFL that he was right.
